FRIDAY, AUGUST 27
Gigspanner Big Band
We kick off Lyme Folk 2021 with one the most exciting collaborations of recent times. Gigspanner began life as a trio - with former Steeleye Span fiddle player Peter Knight being joined by percussionist Sacha Trochet and guitarist Roger Flack - but the line-up has been expanded to form the Gigspanner Big Band, with acclaimed multi-instrumental duo Edgelarks (Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin - winners of the BBC Folk Awards Best Duo) and Bellowhead co-founder and melodeon player extraordinaire John Spiers joining the fray. As collaborations go, it doesn't get much more mouth-watering than this.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 28
Fay Hield band
Returning back to the live stage after a few years out, Fay teams up once again with Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron, who wowed our audiences in last year's finale concert, to tour her new album, Wrackline. Fay breathes life and meaning into old stories presenting them with a fresh twist and consummate musicianship from Sam and Rob including fiddle, concertina, guitar and banjo. Expect to be enveloped in music, woven through magical stories. It will be a night to remember.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 29
Ninebarrow & Friends
By popular demand, our festival patrons will be bringing their unique 'Ninebarrow & Friends' show to Lyme Folk Weekend for a third year. Once again they will be joined on stage for what is always a stunning and unique musical event - and once again there will be a whole new bunch of friends!
Joining Jon and Jay will be Odette Michell, a brilliant singer-songwriter, guitarist and bouzouki player with a bold new take on the acoustic tradition and an unforgettable voice. Odette has recently been named Female Artist Of The Year at the 2019 FATEA Awards.
Also appearing in what has become a much-loved Lyme Folk tradition will be Ward and Parker. John Parker, previously of Nizlopi (of the JCB song) and Cliff Ward, founding member of folk super group The Willows. Together they bring an amazing combination of guitar, double bass, beatboxing and soaring vocals, with influences in alternative, acoustic, jazz, folk, pop... you name it.
Christina Alden and Alex Patterson are the main songwriting force behind award-winning folk trio Alden Patterson and Dashwood. They have been playing and singing together for the last seven years and have toured extensively in the UK and Europe - including a tour with Show Of Hands and a show at Celtic Connections.
So don't miss this fabulous collaboration. With eight such amazing musicians on stage together, anything could happen!
MONDAY, AUGUST 30
Merry Hell
Round off the weekend with one of the best live acts to hit the folk scene in years. Merry Hell came to Lyme Folk Weekend in 2018 and just blew us away. Winners of both the Best Band and Best Live Band at the Folking.com awards, the band have been blazing a trail with their high-energy, foot-stomping folk-rock, and there is no better way to bring the curtain down on a fabulous weekend of live music.
